The overall objective of the Project is to promote sustainable development in Central Asia by strengthening water and energy security and promoting green investments. The Project will focus on sustaining and developing dialogues; developing capacity of regional and national stakeholders through targeted training and policy advice and strengthening links between the EU-Central Asia while increasing awareness among specific target group on environmental governance and climate change. 

The purposes of this Project are:

1. To enhance environment, climate change and water policies at national level in CA and approximate them to EU standards

2. To promote informed green investments in the relevant sectors with the aim of contributing to measurable reductions in man-made pollution.

Type of Services provided:

  • Structured policy dialogue between the EU and Central Asian countries on all relevant aspects of environmental, climate change and water related regulation in the context of the EU-Central Asia Platform for Environment and Water Cooperation supported by the EU-Central Asia Working Group on Environment and Climate Change;
  • Developing capacity of regional and national stakeholders through training, policy advice as well as expert advice on design and preparation of bankable investment projects;
  • Developing environmental policies and frameworks, including on water and climate change
  • Identifying/developing environment-friendly infrastructure investments contributing to measurable reductions in man-made pollution and submitting them to IFIs for consideration
  • Improving environmental awareness among decision-makers, industry and civil society
  • Coordination with other donors active in the region, information centres and centres of excellence.
