Advice and support the Austrian Development Cooperation in the coordination of projects in the water sector

The contract includes strategic, scientific and technical advice on water and sanitation to the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (BMeiA) primarily in monitoring on-going programs / projects and in the development, preparation, evaluation and coordination of new activities in partner countries or multilateral organizations in the context of the overarching goals and supporting principles of the ADC. KPC supports ADC in their efforts to comply with any future programs and projects in the water sector with all relevant criteria, such as increased program orientation, coordination with donors in the international environment, geographical concentration of assistance, strengthening the ownership and use of local expertise in planning and implementation, consideration of gender issues, protection of natural resources. In the case of infrastructure projects the appropriateness of technology, awareness raising of users, and the ability of operators to manage and operate infrastructure are key quality criteria.

Selected services provided within the framework of this assignment:

• Development of “Technical Assistance Program to the Water
  The objective of this assignment is to support the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) in developing a comprehensive Capacity Development programme for Albanian utilities and authorities in the water and sanitation sector which is aimed at strengthening and complementing on-going sector activities at the national, regional and local level. 
• Rehabilitation of the water supply system in the Rayon Nisporeni: Municipalities of Nisporeni, Vărzăresti and Grozesti, Republic of Moldova” (2010- 2012) 
  The objective of this assignment is to support the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and the municipalities of Nisporeni, Vărzăresti and Grozesti in the development of a project for a regional water supply system and the set-up of an inter-communal service provider (utility) for a population of 23.000.
• Preparation of the rehabilitation of the waste water collection system and the treatment plant in the town of Cantemir (2012-2014)
  ADC recently supported the rehabilitation of the water supply system in Cantemir. As a next step the waste water system, which is in a dire state, will need to be rehabilitated in order to find a sustainable solution for the waste water collection system and the treatment plant of Cantemir.
