Venue: Kommunalkredit Public Consulting, 1090 Vienna, Tuerkenstrasse 9, Austria

Please save the date for the forthcoming Austrian Climate Change Workshop titled Sustainable finance: incentivising investments and managing risks. Taking place at Kommunalkredit Group’s conference facilities close to Vienna’s city centre, the 1-day event will be hosted by Kommunalkredit Public Consulting (KPC) and is organized in close cooperation with the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology.

The event aims to contribute to the re-orientation of private capital to sustainable and especially climate-relevant projects through providing a knowledge and communication platform for constructive exchange between public sector and financial market actors on the following main topics:

  • The Green Deal and the emerging legislative framework on sustainable finance to foster enabling conditions for sustainable finance on the European level, including the sustainability taxonomy, ESG integration in the financial decision-making process, transparency and disclosure provisions, as well as non-financial reporting,
  • The importance of identifying and managing ESG and climate change risks in investment and lending portfolios, increasingly pointed out by supervisory authorities, potentially leading to relevant stress tests in the foreseeable future,
  • Approaches, challenges and solutions for measuring ESG impact, going beyond environmental parameters and requiring comprehensive data sourcing and analysis,
  • Incentives and opportunities for sustainable finance by the investment and banking sector, highlighting and presenting best practices, incentives and action agendas from actors within the EU and beyond European borders.

The event will draw on the expertise of high-level speakers from European and national authorities, institutional investors, asset managers, investment funds, credit institutions, think tanks, consulting firms and civil society organisations that will share and discuss their insights with the audience through focused presentations and panel discussions.

PACTA Tutorial for financial institutions (24.4.2020)

Moreover, the conference will be held back-to-back with a ½ day tutorial for financial institutions focussing on PACTA (Paris Agreement Capital Transition Assessment), a tool developed by the 2 Degrees Investor Initiative (2°ii) and co-promoted by KPC, allowing the measurement of the exposure to and alignment of an investment portfolio with a series of decarbonization scenarios. The model has been recently extended to loan portfolios.
